47 children were born, to mothers who were not pregnant earlier that day. Reginald Hargreeves adopts 7 of these children and raises 6 of them to be superheroes. The seventh, Vanya, is the only one left out. Eventually they all grow and leave the Hargreeve manor, and Vanya becomes a bestselling author telling her story, the story of the Umbrella Academy.

 When Reginald dies, the siblings all come together in mourning, only to find that they must save the world once again, and in doing so, they uncover Vanya's hidden powers.

 In 2019 Netflix adapted this comic, and it's sequels into a TV show, that made headlines for it's outlandish hero origin story. This is a fast-paced fun read, suited to all comic, dystopia and post-apocalyptic genre lovers!
